Metta Mala

After attending a mala making workshop at a local yoga festival a few years ago and learning how to tie and design malas, I began to create them at home. Not only were they an enjoyable and therapeutic way to focus my energy, but they were also something I could imbue with my love, light, intentions, and metta. (Metta is a Sanskrit word for “benevolence, loving-kindness, friendliness, amity, goodwill, and an active interest in others.”) Through this process, the Metta Mala was created.

All Metta Malas are tied with 108 semi-precious gemstones and one head bead called a ‘sumera,’ or ‘guru bead;’ hand-tied silk tassels are also an optional adornment. Whether you prefer to design your own or have one created for you, we will work with you to design your perfect mala. We will happily tie it for you or provide you with a DIY Metta Mala kit for you to tie your intentions and metta into every knot and bead yourself.
